Made in Cornwall Awards – 2024 Cornish Craftsmanship Winners

Supporting local Cornish businesses and craftspeople is so important to maintaining the artistry and creativity that has become synonymous with this county. The Made in Cornwall Awards aim to highlight some of the best Cornish creators of the year, celebrating and promoting their skill and hard work. This year’s Cornish Craftsmanship winners are:

Gold – Louise Daykin Prints

Louise Daykin studied illustration in Falmouth where she fell in love with Cornwall. Just before COVID she reignited her passion for lino printing and combined this with her fondness for Cornwall.  Now, she creates and sells a range of products, from prints to tea towels, decorated with designs inspired by Cornwall itself as well as its coast and wildlife. Silver – Corner Studio

Next is Matthew Wood who creates beautiful stained glass pieces, often inspired by Cornish scenes. Born and raised in Cornwall, he deeply values the meaning behind creating art in Cornwall, with its magic permeating into his work. Bronze – Jayne Randall Pottery

Craftsmanship is integral to the nature of Cornwall. It has always been a region of creation and that tradition is kept alive by local artists. Cornwall is an incredible place to explore creativity and crafts. The beauty of the regions environment has inspired generation of artists and will continue to inspire more. The natural environment is so important to the local feeling and connection to Cornwall, hence why it is so important that it is protected, so future generations can be equally inspired by its magic.
