Monthly Farmers Market at Tretawn Farm
Just a few miles from Helsbury there is a stunning local farmers market at Tretawn Farm. You can meet local suppliers and buy locally grown and made produce. As well as fresh vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, bread and honey there are also some unusual spirits and chutneys. The market is a great introduction to some of the wonderful delicacies Cornwall has to offer.
Atlantic Fungi Coop-op
Some of the stall holders include the Atlantic Fungi Co-op who create mushroom supplements from locally grown and processed mushrooms on their farm in Bude. Their sustainable ethos focuses on combatting ‘waste streams’, finding ways of using materials that would otherwise have been disposed of. For example, using the wood waste from UK based furniture makers or the Pomace from local orchards. They are also passionate about reducing the use of single use plastics in mushroom production. They save 160 throwaway bags per week by using reusable containers to grow their Oyster mushrooms. We learnt a lot about the benefits of mushrooms from local mushroom master Michael Truelove so it is wonderful that a local business is investing in the sustainable production of these highly beneficial fungi.
Delea Fermented Foods
Delea Fermented Foods create a range of tasty and healthy fermented products from Kimchi to fermented spicy carrot. They value using local produce as much as possible in their recipes. A mindfulness towards dietary requirements is important to the crafting of their recipes as they try and make healthy, delicious food as accessible as possible. You can even visit them in Liskeard and learn about the fermentation process at one of their workshops.

Tretawn farmers market
The market is held on the third Sunday of every month from 10.00am to 12.30pm and is just a few miles from Helsbury. You can even drop in on the way to the beach at Rock or Daymer Bay.
